The litre is the volume contained in a cube which
sides are 10 centimetres long, so 1 cubic decimetre.
1 litre ( 1 L ) = 100 centilitres ( 100 cL )
1000 millilitres ( 1000 mL )
Knowing that 1 millilitre is equal to 1 cubic centimetre,
1 litre ( 1L ) = 1000 cm3
1 dm3
1 m3 = 1000 L
1 hL = 100 L
The density of wine being nearly that of water, we can say that 1 litre
of wine is equal to 1 kilogramme; 1000 litres are therefore equal to 1
tonne.
